Sustainable innovation, in all its forms, will return to centre stage at Fieramilano in Rho, from 13 to 17 October, thanks to HostMilano. The 2023 edition presents an overview of the sector divided into three macro-areas to offer visitors a detailed and comprehensive view of the entire industry:

  1. Food service equipment, Bakery, Pizza, Pasta: an area dedicated to food service equipment, bakery, pizza and pasta.
  2. Furniture, Tableware, Technology: an area focusing on furniture, tableware and technology related to the hospitality and catering industry.
  3. Coffee, Tea, Bars, Coffee machines, Vending, Ice Cream, Pastry: a section on the world of coffee, tea, bars, coffee machines, vending machines, ice cream and pastry.

In particular, the bar and coffee sectors converge in the acclaimed SIC, the International Coffee Fair, which hosts a broad representation of Italian and foreign companies involved in the entire supply chain. This covers the entire journey, starting from raw coffee and embracing the roasting stages, alternative extraction methods and machines for preparing the finished product. The aim is to meet the growing demand of a customers’ base that no longer sees coffee as a mere commodity, but as a unique speciality.

Host Milano: in the name of innovation and sustainability

A major trend in the hospitality and catering industry is the increasing emphasis on digitisation and sustainability. The 2023 edition of HostMilano will showcase solutions and products that meet this growing need. From the production of more energy efficient equipment to responsible waste management, exhibitors will present solutions that reduce environmental impact without compromising quality or customer experience. From intelligent AI-supported interfaces to automation, kitchen technology will see implementation as part of a broader circular economy.

In this sense, investing in digitisation and sustainable innovation involves upgrading equipment, accessories and add-ons, as well as promoting ecological projects. This trend is clearly reflected in the sector data. According to Future Market Insights, a market research company, the global food equipment market will be worth $44 billion this year and is expected to grow at an average of +5.6% to reach $76 billion by 2032.

In addition, to promoting sustainability through the products and projects presented during the event, HostMilano is actively committed to incorporating sustainable practices into its organisation, as part of Fiera Milano's ESG strategy. This includes a series of initiatives aimed at using renewable energy sources, reducing water and energy consumption, and recovering materials used in fittings. In addition, there is the ambitious target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent by 2030, in line with the Net Zero Carbon Event initiative promoted by UFI - Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
