Hager Australia, a leading provider of electrical installation solutions and services within the Hager Group, has given new life to its Allure and Finesse range of electrical sockets and switches for the Australian market through its 'Make the switch’ program.
The redesign of the classic Australian switch for residential buildings led to Hager being named Good Design Award Winner during the Australian Good Design Awards Week in October. We at SLIM have contributed to this renewal through the development of a new LED indicator light.

The Good Design Awards: Hager wins the award for per ‘Make the switch’
The new design given to the Allure and Finesse product lines is based on a clear, clean and straightforward design code, and represents the perfect blend of tradition and innovation. All the components of the switches and sockets have been carefully thought out by Hager's designers to fit perfectly into the new product concept. The translucent sides chosen for the dial highlight the elegance of the switch, which becomes an element that is perfectly in line with Australian interior design trends.
This project, called 'Make the switch', led to Hager being awarded the Good Design Award Winner 2021. The Good Design Awards is a prestigious event that was established in 1958 to recognise design and product innovation in the Australian market.
On this occasion, Hager Australia won the award for the excellent aesthetic qualities of refinement of the company's new switch and socket. The jury commented:
“This clean and contemporary product looks professionally designed and well-executed. Overall, a standout project that ticks all the boxes for good design in this category.”
The SLIM indicator light for Hager Australia
During the development of the switch, Hager approached us to develop a specific indicator light that would fit harmoniously into the new product design lines. The request was for a retrofit of the white LED source light, which was custom made for some Hager products, into a custom blue version to create a distinctive aesthetic effect.
The project was based on modifying the previously supplied indicator light by replacing the white LED with a blue LED, also mounted on the printed circuit board. From the moment we received guidelines from the company, we started with the replacement of the white LED, and then readjusted the tone and homogeneity of the light. The excellent working relationship between the parties meant that within a few weeks the desired lighting component was supplied to Hager.
