SLIM Srl, Società Lampade per Interruttori Mercurio, was founded in 1973 as an electrotechnical and metalworking company for the production of neon lamps in glass bulbs and electromechanical switches. A few years after it was founded, the company's core business became the production of light indicators and switches: today, almost 50 years after it was founded, the company is a leading player in the sector and its offer has evolved, combining standard production with the development of new solutions that can illuminate equipment in the most diverse application sectors.
From coffee machines to air conditioners and washing machines, SLIM devices illuminate all sectors: HoReCa, Household appliances, HVAC, the electromedical and lighting industries.
“"We are constantly changing and looking for new ways to illuminate larger and larger surfaces or complex shapes in smaller and smaller spaces.”
Matteo Cattani, Co-CEO SLIM
Lighting components also play an important role in the HVAC sector for heating, ventilation and air conditioning applications, as standard temperature control signalling or as emergency signalling. In this article, we take a closer look at SLIM's lighting range for the HVAC sector.
More specifically we will be talking about:

SLIM works alongside major companies in the HVAC sector to develop and supply modular, safe and quality standard lighting products. The lighting solutions can be integrated mainly for boilers, water heaters and air conditioners, both for the Italian and foreign markets.
Today, one of the most popular devices is the TB/SLTS model, in the different configurations provided in the catalogue, especially as a temperature control indicator for water heaters and central heating boilers. Companies specialising in comfort management also often request the TB/010/SC, a light indicator available in incandescent, neon/fluoro or LED configurations, with panel locking by means of a nut. Among the most popular models is the TB919, with SR1 lens and SC1 lens.
Most of the light indicators in the product catalogue can be configured according to the technical specifications required for subsequent installation in HVAC systems. The type of lamp, light source or lens colour of the light indicator is chosen according to the internal dimensions of the application and the aesthetics required. Typically, the demand for a component for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning is based on certain essential specifications: resistance to high temperatures, good impact resistance and adequate light intensity.
In addition to the production of standard light signalling and components, SLIM is also involved in the development of customised lighting solutions. Specifically, in the HVAC sector, it is possible to develop custom designs for the backlighting of particular devices to be installed inside domestic heating and air conditioning equipment. Sources such as optical fibre for lighting and SMD LEDs are particularly suited to the development of customised aesthetic lighting solutions.
In these cases, collaboration with companies follows specific procedures, depending on the request. We tend to start with the technical specifications we receive in order to study the feasibility of the project. This is followed by a graphic proposal of the solution and the selection of the most suitable source and materials. Only constant interaction between the team of technical experts and engineers and the partner team can lead to the desired product output. Once the customised device has been agreed upon, a 3D prototype will be produced to allow the customer to experience the required design idea first-hand.
At SLIM, we strongly believe in enhancing the research and development of new lighting technologies in order to propose innovative lighting solutions in our areas of expertise.
The Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, which will hold its 42nd edition in Milan from 28 June to 1 July 2022, will be an important moment of updating and comparison with the professionals of the HVAC sector. We will be visiting the conference to sum up the latest news and trends from manufacturers and producers of equipment and systems for home comfort.
