SLIM devices for the lighting industry
SLIM offers a wide range of components that can be used in the lighting industry: from switches to panel indicators, our products come into play wherever a light source and control point is required. We produce standard, robust and reliable light indicators for various applications. But our proposal does not stop there: we study new materials and light sources that meet precise technical specifications and enhance the aesthetic design aspect of the final application.
Our ability to design and create high-performance lighting solutions in ever-smaller spaces is one of our established skills. Calibrating the power of the light source is one of the main challenges in the design phase: being able to channel adequate light efficiency into a small space, bypassing dimensional limitations, can be a difficult result to achieve if you do not have the necessary design experience, but often represents the winning solution for the aesthetics of the final application.
Our R&D department plays a major role in this process, where the characteristics and performance of the latest generations of LEDs and, more recently, optical fibre for lighting are studied.
Tailor-made solutions: work together with SLIM
Over time we have specialised in the design of customised lighting solutions. Customised solutions are co-designed with the customer to meet specific functional and aesthetic requirements as part of a more complex product development. As a first step, we conduct a feasibility study on the type of light required: after a thorough analysis, we proceed with the definition and design of the solution. We evaluate the type of final application, the light source, the luminous efficiency, the chromatic and aesthetic yield, the spaces to work within in order to integrate these variables within a solution with high technical and aesthetic added value.

In the realisation of customised solutions, the technical definition of the product is followed by the realisation of an initial dimensional and/or functional prototype of the device: the new product undergoes tests and trials before the realisation of pre-series sampling and the final production of the final product.
Some of the most successful lighting collaborations include the Hager Gallery series of switches and plates and Bticino's Living Now line of plates.
In the first case, we developed an original backlighting system for the plate: in a very small space, we have given homogeneity to the LED light, conveyed within a minimal and clean line, which has contributed to making the plate a design element. The Gallery series has received numerous international awards for its high design content.
In the case of Bticino, however, the request received was to "design" an elegant thread of light on the switches, which could become the hallmark of the Living Now series. In collaboration with Bticino's technical team, we created an SMD backlighting device on a printed circuit board, with a particular and distinctive colour shade, completely satisfying our client's expectations.
